Privacy Policy

The short version: your Screen Time activity, your bedtime routine, and the apps you chose to block never leave your iPhone. We do collect anonymous product analytics so we can fix what is broken and improve the app, and Apple handles your subscription. We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.

Who we are

Bedrot is an iOS app. For anything in this policy, including a request to delete data, write to info@codewithfou.com.

Permissions Bedrot asks for

Screen Time: required. Without it Bedrot cannot shield apps or show you what you reclaimed.
Notifications: optional. Used for the morning receipt and bedtime reminders. Declining it does not affect blocking.

What stays on your device

The following is stored only in Bedrot’s private app container, a shared app group that the app and its Screen Time extensions can read. It is never uploaded:

Your protection routine: the bedtime, wake time, and nights you selected.
Your app selection: the apps, categories, and websites you chose to shield. This is stored as an opaque Apple-provided token, so Bedrot cannot read it to determine which specific apps you picked.
Your routine history: previous versions of your routine, so insights can be attributed to the schedule that was active at the time.
Bedtime insights: summaries derived from Apple’s Screen Time data for your protection window.
App state: whether onboarding is complete, whether the shield is armed, whether you skipped tonight, and your streak count.

This data is removed when you delete the app. It is included in your device backup if you back up your iPhone, and it is subject to whatever encryption and protection you have configured for that backup.

Screen Time and Family Controls

Bedrot uses Apple’s Family Controls, Device Activity, and Managed Settings frameworks to block the apps you choose during the window you choose. These frameworks are built so that developers never see your raw usage data:

Your app selection is handed to Bedrot as an opaque token. We cannot decode it.
Screen Time usage figures are rendered by an Apple-controlled extension that runs in a sandbox with no network access. Bedrot receives only the aggregate summaries it shows you, and those summaries stay on the device.
Screen Time access requires your explicit approval, and you can revoke it at any time in Settings → Screen Time.

Data that is collected, and not linked to your identity

Product analytics

Bedrot uses PostHog to collect anonymous usage data: which screens you open, which features you use, whether onboarding completed, and whether the app crashed. It is tied to a random identifier, not to your name, email, or Apple ID, and we cannot use it to identify you. We use it only to find bugs, understand which features earn their place, and improve the app.

Analytics never include your Screen Time figures, your routine times, or the identity of the apps you chose to block. Those never leave the device.

Subscriptions and payments

Bedrot is a paid app. Subscriptions are sold only through the Apple App Store and managed with RevenueCat, which records purchase and renewal events against an anonymous app user ID.

Apple processes the payment. We never see or store your card details, billing address, or Apple ID.
There is no Bedrot account, no sign-in, and no email address collected in the app.
We receive anonymous aggregate sales, subscription, and crash statistics from Apple, which we cannot connect to any individual.

The Bedrot website

This website sets no tracking cookies and carries no advertising pixels. If that ever changes we will say so here first, before anything is added.

What we never do

We never sell your data, and we never share it for anyone else’s advertising.
We never transmit your Screen Time activity, your routine, or your blocked app selection off your device.
We do not show ads inside the app.
We do not track you across other apps, and the app does not use the App Tracking Transparency framework or the advertising identifier.
We do not require an account, an email address, or any sign-in.

Third parties we rely on

Apple: App Store distribution and payment processing, under Apple’s privacy policy.
RevenueCat: subscription state, keyed to an anonymous ID.
PostHog: anonymous product analytics and crash data.

That is the complete list. There are no advertising or attribution SDKs in the app.

How long data is kept

On-device data stays until you delete the app, which erases all of it.
Anonymous analytics events are retained for up to 24 months, then deleted.
Subscription records are kept for as long as Apple and our accounting obligations require.

Children

Bedrot is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect data from them.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete the data we hold, and to object to how we use it. In practice:

Deleting the app erases everything stored on your device.
To withdraw Screen Time permission, open Settings → Screen Time on your device.
Because analytics are anonymous we usually cannot locate your individual events, but write to us and we will do what we can and tell you honestly what is possible.
To manage or cancel a subscription, use Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of this page, and where the change is material we will note it in the app’s release notes.
